-10-
• 1 affirmation of Councilmember Enrooth' s recollection that the
original number had been 4. Commissioner Werenicz said he recalled
the Commission had been given a choice between 6 and 2 and had
settled on 3 at the end.

Commissioner Hansen questioned whether, if the Council 'actually
rewrote the whole Ordinance, the Planning Commission would %not have
to give its reaction to those changes. Mr. Childs indicated that
was not his understanding. The Chair agreed that the Planning.
Commission had already fulfilled its role in the process by
reporting the public reaction to the issue. Commissioner Hansen
said he perceived the Commission had also been receiving more
resident response since the hearing.

Mr. Childs said he would send copies of the revised draft to the
'Commission members before the next Council meeting and reiterated
some of the reasoning he perceived behind the changes.

Manager Gives Update on Various City Projects

Mr. Childs discussed the problems which had arisen with the last
phases of the Kenzie Terrace Redevelopment Project; successful
rental of Chandler Place; sale of the Hertog lots and the type of
homes to be constructed. in that project. He said he wasn' t sure how
many lots had been sold in the Johnson project; considered the
Blanske townhome project to have been done very well; and indicated
• 27 he had no further information with regard to the property on the
corner of 33rd -and Stinson.

Commissioners Protest Three Signs Being Erected on Dairy Queen

Commissioner Werenicz said he recalled the Commission had only
recommended the store be permitted to keep the sign on top of the
store and erect one other sign where now that the store has been
rebuilt there are two well lit signs on each side of the building as
well as the sign ' which had been perceived to have been
"grandfathered in" . Commissioner Hansen said even the latter might
be doubtful since the store was completely taken down and rebuilt.

Mr. Childs said he would check on the matter and' get back to the
Commission at their next meeting.

He then reiterated the businesses which had been lost to the center
because of the delay by the absent landlords in signing the leases
which had been submitted to them.

Manager Updates _ Commission on Possibility of City Taking Over the
Parkview Building

Mr. Childs gave the changes in the City facilities which might
conceivably result from the above happening but said this was only
one of the issues the school district is contemplating because of
decreases in enrollment and economic problems. Commissioner Hansen
said he understood the school district wants to get the matter
