Group, Inc. for the operation of a
convenience store with a fuel area at 2400-37th Avenue NE with the following
conditions:
1. Two variances to the structure, one on the south side for 7 feet and one on the
backyard setback for 13 feet.
2. Two variances for the canopy, one on the west end for 12 feet and one on the
north end for 20 feet.
Motion carried unanimously.
Chair Gondorchin urged the petitioner to attend the City Council meeting on August 23,
1994, for the final commitment of their variance.
B. School District#282, conditional use request, for 3600 Highcrest Road(Wilshire
Park Elementary School).
At 7:46 P.M., Chair Gondorchin opened the public hearing for a conditional use permit
requested by School District#282 which would allow the placement of two classroom
portable units on Wilshire Park Elementary School property for a period of 24 months.
In his staff report, City Manager Mornson informed those present that this property is
located at 3600 Highcrest Road in a Recreational/Open Space District. He added that the
Planning Commission, in 1993, approved the placement of one unit for a period of 24
months. The School District is now proposing to remove the existing unit and replace it
with a two classroom portable. He stated the school district did not need to have a public
hearing but at the hearing one year ago, it was suggested the district appear before the
Planning Commission so there was no appearance of issues not being dealt with in a
public manner.
A discussion was held with the City Manager being asked what would happen at the end
of the 24 months if the school district needs an extension of the 24-month period. The
City Manager explained the School District would come before the Planning Commission
at the end of the 24 months and request an extension at that time.
Dr. Abrahamson stated the District wanted the use of the trailer for the first and fourth
grades, on an in-and-out program basis and not as an all-day assignment. He stated the
trailer looked more like a house with siding and a gabled roof. In response to questions
