Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br />- - - -February 20;4996---- <br /> Page <br /> 996 --Page 12 <br /> 1 Commissioner Thompson stated he would like to see the Apache Plaza name used for the new <br /> 2 shopping center, as it has a 35-year history and is an established part of St. Anthony. Ms. <br /> 3 Moore-Sykes stated that the developers have decided to keep the Apache Plaza.name for those <br /> 4 reasons. Commissioner Gondorchin inquired as to the political correctness of the Apache <br /> 5 Plaza name. Ms. Moore-Sykes stated that political correctness was a concern to the developer, <br /> 6 but they decided to keep it as it has historic value to the community. <br /> 7 Chair Bergstrom stated he and Ms. Moore-Sykes attended the Livable Communities Act <br /> 8 Workshop,and the Metropolitan Council is encouraging municipalities which haven't achieved <br /> 9 affordable housing goals, to do so. He noted that St. Anthony has determined its affordable <br /> 10 housing goals, and a corresponding action plan is due June 30, 1996 to the Metropolitan <br /> 11 Council. He suggested that it is a good opportunity to address residential housing issues for <br /> 12 the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> 13 Commissioner Makowske noted he will be in attendance at the next meeting, as his school <br /> 14 schedule permits it. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 IX.
