Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • June 16, 1998 ; <br /> Page 11 <br /> 1 increase substantially with the opening of the north-south runway. <br /> 2 Commissioner Gondorchin.suggested the possibility of having a piece of park equipment on <br /> 3 display at VillageFest as an opportunity to solicit funds for the equipment. <br /> 4 Commissioner Makowske apologized for missing the last two Commission meetings. He <br /> 5 reported that the Storm Water Task Force has folded barring any new problems. There will be a <br /> 6 social event on June 27 which is being hosted by Councilmember Faust and his wife, Diane. <br /> 7 Commissioner Makowske reported that the St. Anthony Civic Orchestra recently held two major <br /> 8 concerts, one with the Sister City Band of Salo, Finland and one for the purpose of fund-raising. <br /> 9 Both events were very successful. <br /> 10 Commissioner Makowske noted there has been a lot discussion in regard to empty buildings in <br /> 11 the Industrial Park and asked if there was anything the City can do to help remedy this situation. <br /> 12 He noted this would appear,to be an ideal location as it is near the downtown area. <br /> 13 Ms. Moore-Sykes stated she was not aware of, and did not sense a need for assistance in that <br /> 14 area. <br /> Commissioner Makowske stated he hoped that as the City starts to look at the south end of the <br /> 16 City it will go beyond ideas and take action. <br /> 17 Commissioner Thompson stated he was impressed with the landscaping at the Freedom Gas <br /> 18 Station site. <br /> 19 Chair Bergstrom stated he is involved with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in the area and they <br /> 20 recently held their Scouting for Food Event. As a result of this event,2,091 pounds of food from <br /> 21 the City of St. Anthony were delivered to the SACA house. <br /> 22 Ms. Moore-Sykes reported the Blanske Brothers, who built the Mini Storage and the townhouses <br /> 23 across from Goodyear on Silver Lake Road, are interested in the City-acquired property on <br /> 24 Kenzie Terrace. They are considering single-level townhouses and will be meeting with Staff to <br /> 25 discuss this further. <br /> 26 Chair Bergstrom questioned the status of the Point-of-Sale Ordinance. <br /> 27 Ms. Moore-Sykes stated the proposed Ordinance was discussed by the City Council at a Work <br /> 28 Session and will again be presented for consideration to the Planning Commission. <br /> Chair Bergstrom reminded the Commission of the Work Session scheduled for July 16 at 6:00 <br /> P.M. to discuss implementation of the Comprehensive Plan. He asked the Commissioners to <br /> 31 look through the Plan and come prepared with ideas. <br />
