Subd. 6. Changeable Copy Sign- Any sign which is characterized by <br /> changeable copy, letters or symbols, regardless of method of attachment. <br /> Subd. 7. Directional Sign. An on-premises sign designed to guide or direct <br /> pedestrian or vehicular traffic to ingress and/or egress locations. <br /> Subd. 8. Electric Sign. Any sign containing electrical wiring but not including <br /> signs illuminated by an exterior light source. <br /> Subd. 9. B . Devices generally made of flexible materials, such as cloth, <br /> paper or plastic, and displayed on poles, strings or wires, but excluding the flag <br /> of any country or state. <br /> Subd. 10. Flashing Sign. An illuminated sign which contains flashing lights <br /> or exhibits noticeable changes in light intensity. <br /> Subd. 11. Ground Sign. Any sign which is freestanding by virtue of being <br /> structurally independent of any structure or object, and is affixed to the <br /> ground by means of a base with no visibility between the bottom of the sign <br /> and the base on which it is attached, and may make use of landscaping to <br /> enhance the appearance of the signage. <br /> Subd. 12. Historical Identification Symbols. Those symbols which have <br /> historically been identified with the service the establishment provides, are <br /> common to similar enterprises in all other localities and are not a particular <br /> trademark or business identification. <br /> Subd. 13. Illuminated Sign. A sign designed to give forth any artificial or <br /> reflected light, either directly from a source connected with the sign or <br /> indirectly from an artificial source, so shielded that no direct illumination <br /> from it is visible except on the sign and in its immediate proximity. <br /> Subd. 14. Identification Sign. A sign which contains no advertising but is <br /> limited to the name, address and number of a building, institution or person <br /> and to the activity carried on in the building or institution or the occupation <br /> of the person. <br /> Subd. 15. Major Anchor. A single tenant in a shopping center that is at least <br /> 20% of the total square footage and in excess of 50,000 square feet. <br /> Subd. 16. Marquee. Any permanent roof—like structure projecting beyond a <br /> building or extending along and projecting beyond the wall of the building, <br /> generally designed and constructed to provide protection from the weather. <br /> 14-2 <br />
