City Council Regular Meeting Minutes • December 18, 1996 Page 3 1 B. Mayor. 2 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received thank you cards from Staff for the Employee 3 Appreciation Breakfast. He thanked Councilmember George Wagner and his wife Audrey for 4 the fine job done of organizing the event. 5 Mayor Ranallo noted that with all the snow received in the past few days, he has received some 6 calls in regard to snowplowing. 7 Mayor Ranallo reported Continental Cable Company is in the process of trying to sell to U.S. 8 West. The Cable Committee feels this will result in a conflict of interest and has appealed the 9 FCC authorization. Each City will be informed of the outcome in the next 30 days. Mayor 10 Ranallo reported Tom Crayton is representing the Cable Commission and is very knowledgeable 11 regarding cable issues. 12 1. Presentation by Arne Hendrickson from Minnegasco. 13 Mr. Arne Hendrickson,representing Minnegasco, stated it was a pleasure to be in 14 attendance this evening to mark 1996 as the 50th year of natural gas energy service to the 15City of St. Anthony. Minnegasco appreciated the opportunity to serve the community of 10 St. Anthony as it has grown over the last 50 years. To commemorate the long presence of natural gas service in St. Anthony, on behalf of Minnegasco, Mr. Hendrickson presented 18 the City with a plague commemorating the 50 years of service and a check in the amount 19 of$250.00 to be used for the purchase of a mature tree of the City's choice to be planted 20 in St. Anthony to symbolize Minnegasco's continuing service to the community. 21 Mr. Hendrickson thanked the Mayor, Councilmembers, City Staff and residents for 22 allowing Minnegasco to serve St. Anthony, and stated he looks forward to serving and 23 working with the City now and into the future. 24 Mayor Ranallo thanked Mr. Hendrickon and Minnegasco for the plaque and the check. 25 Enrooth stated he hoped the current price increase from Minnegasco would be temporary. 26 Mr. Hendrickson explained the suppliers had increased the prices earlier in the year and 27 Minnegasco had kept their prices steady. The suppliers have now increased their prices 28 again due to the cold weather and Minnegasco has been forced to raise their prices. He 29 stated Minnegasco is working very hard to bring the prices back down. 30 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received a Christmas card from Salo, Finland and a CD of 31 the children singing Christmas songs at the School. 0
