City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • December 18, 1996 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 1 B. Mayor. <br /> 2 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received thank you cards from Staff for the Employee <br /> 3 Appreciation Breakfast. He thanked Councilmember George Wagner and his wife Audrey for <br /> 4 the fine job done of organizing the event. <br /> 5 Mayor Ranallo noted that with all the snow received in the past few days, he has received some <br /> 6 calls in regard to snowplowing. <br /> 7 Mayor Ranallo reported Continental Cable Company is in the process of trying to sell to U.S. <br /> 8 West. The Cable Committee feels this will result in a conflict of interest and has appealed the <br /> 9 FCC authorization. Each City will be informed of the outcome in the next 30 days. Mayor <br /> 10 Ranallo reported Tom Crayton is representing the Cable Commission and is very knowledgeable <br /> 11 regarding cable issues. <br /> 12 1. Presentation by Arne Hendrickson from Minnegasco. <br /> 13 Mr. Arne Hendrickson,representing Minnegasco, stated it was a pleasure to be in <br /> 14 attendance this evening to mark 1996 as the 50th year of natural gas energy service to the <br /> 15City of St. Anthony. Minnegasco appreciated the opportunity to serve the community of <br /> 10 St. Anthony as it has grown over the last 50 years. To commemorate the long presence of <br /> natural gas service in St. Anthony, on behalf of Minnegasco, Mr. Hendrickson presented <br /> 18 the City with a plague commemorating the 50 years of service and a check in the amount <br /> 19 of$250.00 to be used for the purchase of a mature tree of the City's choice to be planted <br /> 20 in St. Anthony to symbolize Minnegasco's continuing service to the community. <br /> 21 Mr. Hendrickson thanked the Mayor, Councilmembers, City Staff and residents for <br /> 22 allowing Minnegasco to serve St. Anthony, and stated he looks forward to serving and <br /> 23 working with the City now and into the future. <br /> 24 Mayor Ranallo thanked Mr. Hendrickon and Minnegasco for the plaque and the check. <br /> 25 Enrooth stated he hoped the current price increase from Minnegasco would be temporary. <br /> 26 Mr. Hendrickson explained the suppliers had increased the prices earlier in the year and <br /> 27 Minnegasco had kept their prices steady. The suppliers have now increased their prices <br /> 28 again due to the cold weather and Minnegasco has been forced to raise their prices. He <br /> 29 stated Minnegasco is working very hard to bring the prices back down. <br /> 30 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received a Christmas card from Salo, Finland and a CD of <br /> 31 the children singing Christmas songs at the School. <br /> 0 <br />
