City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • December 18, 1996 <br /> Page 5 <br /> 1 Morrison reported the Pizza Hut building has been sold to the Conoco Station. They were <br /> 2 originally considering demolishing the building and expanding the mall but may instead renovate <br /> 3 the existing building. <br /> 4 Mornson noted as in past years,the City Offices will be closed ''/z day on Christmas Eve. He <br /> 5 noted he will be on vacation December 26th and 27th but will be available due to all the <br /> 6 activities involved with the new building. <br /> 7 Morrison reported four applications have been received for the two vacancies on the Planning <br /> 8 Commission for 1997. He asked if the Council would prefer to interview the applicants at the <br /> 9 January Work Session or at the January 14, 1997 City Council Meeting. <br /> 10 There was Council consensus to interview all four applicants and to.direct City Manager to <br /> 11 determine which meeting to interview the applicants based on the length of the agendas of the <br /> 12 meetings. <br /> 13 Mornson reported the first Comprehensive Plan Update Task Force Meeting has been tentatively <br /> 14 scheduled for January 27, 1997. He noted meetings will be held on Mondays or Wednesdays and <br /> 15 will include a series of eight meetings over the next six months. He indicated a letter will be sent <br /> within one week to the churches and other organizations asking them to be involved with the <br /> Task Force. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 IX. PUBLIC HEARING-None. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 X. NEW BUSINESS. <br /> 22 A. Resolution 96-065. re: City Manager. <br /> 23 Motion by Marks, second by Faust to approve Resolution 96-065 regarding, approving <br /> 24 the 1997 salary of Michael J. Mornson, St. Anthony'City Manager. <br /> 25 Mayor Ranallo thanked City Manager Mornson for the work he has done and <br /> 26 continuation of good work for the City of St. Anthony. <br /> 27 Mornson thanked the Council for all their support. <br /> 28 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 29 Mornson reported his attendance at the National League of Cities Conference and noted a large <br /> 30 topic of discussion was technology. Three Mayors from Minnesota led presentations at the . <br /> 31 Conference. The Mayor of Minnetonka advised that cities should not worry if they are behind in <br /> 32 this area because so much has changed and continues to change. Mornson noted one area of <br /> concern with this issue is security on the Internet. <br />
