Also, the reference library and roll call room has no <br /> 3 shelving to house the law books and materials the officers need to use. These <br /> 4 materials are still in boxes. Engstrom reported the overall cost of the above <br /> 5 improvements to the police department is $6,558. This includes $5,558 for the <br /> 6 additional furniture and $70041,000 to revamp the existing furniture. <br /> 7 Wagner asked if the furniture supplier had worked with Engstrom during the planning <br /> 8 process. <br /> 9 Engstrom stated he had not. Engstrom noted that he had provided a general design of <br /> 10 each room and the furniture necessary, but some materials apparently were <br /> 11 inadvertently overlooked. He stated he did originally request these items. <br /> 12 Motion by Marks, second by Wagner to authorize expenditure of an amount not to <br /> 13 exceed $6,600 to provide the necessary furniture for the police department. <br /> 14 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 15 Engstrom reported the police department is in need of electrical/audio-video upgrades. <br /> 16 He reported three doors do not have readers.. The monitors provided are nine inch and <br /> 17 are adequate if you are only six to eight feet away. In the new police department the <br /> 18 monitors are placed higher and are farther away. The nine inch monitors do not <br /> 19 provide a fully sharp image on the screen. Also there is not an adequate number of <br /> 20 monitors to cover all areas. The south side of the building does not have a monitor <br /> 21 and the corridor between the police department and City offices does not have a <br /> 22 monitor. Engstrom reported these items are necessary for the security of the police <br /> 23 department. <br /> 24 Mayor Ranallo asked what would become of the nine inch monitors. <br /> 25 Engstrom indicated they would be credited against the price of the new monitors. <br /> 26 Mayor Ranallo asked how these additional expenses would be funded. <br /> 27 Mornson indicated they would be funded by the contingency fund account. He <br /> 28 reported there was $127,702 in the continency fund. Mornson stated there were <br /> 29 additional potential expenses such as the demolition of Parkview School and the tennis <br /> 30 courts but they would be funded from other areas. <br /> 31 Enrooth questioned the architects opinion on these issues. <br /> 32 Mornson reported the architect and sub-contractors are all blaming each other and <br /> 33 stating they do not recall these items being included in the bid. <br />
