COMMENTS.
There was discussion about how the City was going to fund the improvements to
the Parks. Several members felt it was important that the task force know the
amount of money that would be budgeted for improvements before the group
discussed projects. Others felt there was a need to have discussions of what the
members wanted to see put in the parks so that a long-term plan could be -put
together before money was spent without thought. A suggestion was made to plan
each park, then cost it out.
The task force decided that for now, efforts should be concentrated on projects that
have money appropriated, e.g., the playground area by Community Services and the
tennis courts.
The task force listed needs for Central Park:
Add additional playground equipment for preschool, elementary, toddlers.
3 adult sized softball fields and 1 baseball field (325 ft. outfields).
6 tennis courts with play equipment nearby.
A fence around the retention basin on the NE corner of Community
Services.
Multi-seasonal outdoor performing arts center.
Paths — safe and with benches.
Play tables for chess or other board games.
Landscaping with a well designed entrance/gateway area.
Additional court areas — basketball, shuffleboard.
' Concession area with restrooms.
Soccer fields.
Natural plantings around drainage areas; improve drainage areas.
Wadding pool.
Soil corrections.

IX.
