Planning Commission Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> December 16, 1997 <br /> Page 6 <br /> 1 Mr. Sarna stated he had spoken with the owner of the property. <br /> 2 Commissioner Horst stated he had not been present at the November concept review and <br /> 3 asked the purpose of removal of the pylon sign. <br /> 4 Mr. Sarna explained that the view of the pylon sign is obstructed by the stop light and the <br /> 5 telephone poles. <br /> 6 Chair Bergstrom stated that generally speaking the City was traditionally in favor of a ground <br /> 7 signs over pylon signs. <br /> 8 Commissioner Makowske questioned the square footage of the existing pylon sign. <br /> 9 Mr. Sarna stated the existing pylon sign is approximately 150 square feet. <br /> 10 Commissioner Franzese questioned the hours of operation of the service station and when the <br /> 11 signs would be lit. <br /> 12 Mr. Sarna stated that currently the hours of operation are 5:30 A.M. to 11:00 or 11:30 P.M. <br /> 13 The signs would only be lit during hours of operation. <br /> 14 Chair Bergstrom noted the City had received a petition with 16 lines of signatories stating <br /> 15 "We oppose any changes in the size of signs or number of signs at the Stop `N Go Service <br /> 16 Station, 2400 - 37th Avenue N.E.". <br /> 17 Mr. Sarna stated he was most concerned with the adjacent property owner and that this issue <br /> 18 had been resolved with the relocation of the sign from Stinson Boulevard to 37th Avenue <br /> 19 N.E. He was aware that a petition was being circulated but did not believe the person <br /> 20 circulating the petition was even aware of what his proposal included. <br /> 21 Ms. Moore-Sykes stated she had spoken with Mrs. Russell Ingvalsen who had circulated the <br /> 22 petition. It was Ms. Moore-Sykes impression that-Mrs. Ingvalsen had thought that two <br /> 23 monument signs were proposed in addition to the current signage. Ms. Moore-Sykes <br /> 24 explained the proposal to her and Mrs. Ingvalsen called again and asked for a list of the <br /> 25 persons who received notice of the proposal. <br /> 26 Chair Bergstrom asked if this was after the City had received the petition. <br /> 27 Ms. Moore-Sykes stated it was after receipt of the petition and after the City had sent notices. <br /> 28 She noted Mrs. Ingvalsen was made aware of the public hearing process. <br /> 29 Chair Bergstrom closed the public hearing at 7:36 P.M. <br />
