City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> • February 9, 1999 <br /> Page 5 <br /> 1 Momson reported on a recent Hennepin County parks meeting at which the possibility of a <br /> 2 regional park within a first ring suburb was discussed. He added that commissioners and staff <br /> 3 may attend future Council meetings in April or May to discuss this issue. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Mornson reported on a meeting of the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities' Revenue <br /> 6 Committee at which the proposed property tax was discussed. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Mornson reported that 2 letters were sent to the DNR on Friday February 5, 1999 requesting <br /> 9 additional funding as well as remaining funding already promised to the City. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Mornson stated the City Council will hold joint meetings with the School Board on March 2, <br /> 12 1999 at 5:45 P.M. and the Planning Commission on March 9, 1999 at 6:00 P.M. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Momson stated the Police and Fire Departments will present their.annual reports to the City <br /> 15 Council at their April 13, 1999 regular meeting. He added Police Chief Engstrom will introduce <br /> 16 the 2 newly hired officers including the City's first female officer. <br /> 17 <br /> Mornson stated the Rice Creek Watershed District wishes to conduct a diagnostic study for <br /> which funding was approved by the City in 1995. He added the District has been informed that <br /> 20 the.City is still committed to the provision of this funding. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Mornson stated the Parks Commission has a vacancy due to a recent resignation, and the <br /> 23 Commission will be addressing that issue. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Mornson stated the City had been notified by the County that the Silver Lake Bridge Project <br /> 26 construction will not commence until January 2000. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS. <br /> 29 Ranallo stated that this evening's public hearing was regarding street improvements and <br /> 30 assessments with regard to the 1999 street and utility improvements. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Motion by Thuesen, second by Faust to open the public hearing at 7:31 P.M. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Ranallo welcomed Todd Hubmer, WSB & Associates, and invited him to address the Council. <br /> 37 Mr. Hubmer stated final plans and specifications had been completed for the 1999 street utility <br /> 38 project, and reviewed the project's costs and funding sources. <br /> �9 <br />
