City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />January 26, 2016 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Mayor Faust stated it seems all that is needed is to complete the paperwork. He agreed the City 1 <br />should participate in this program. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Councilmember Jensen complimented Kristin for taking the initiative and stated he is happy the 4 <br />City is going forward with this process. 5 <br /> 6 <br />VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 7 <br /> 8 <br />City Manager Casey reported that Police Chief John Oh and Captain Dominic Cotroneo will 9 <br />retire effective August 31, 2016. Both have over 30 years of dedicated service to the City. City 10 <br />Manager Casey has appointed John Mangseth as the new Police Chief and Jeff Spiess as the new 11 <br />Captain who will be starting September 1, 2016. There will be presentation at the May 24, 2016, 12 <br />City Council meeting. June 2, 2016 will be a public farewell. These dates will be put on the 13 <br />website as it gets closer. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Mayor Faust stated it is the City Manager’s job to hire department heads and there has been a 16 <br />plan in place for some time. He noted the transition time is valuable and it will be a smooth 17 <br />transition. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Councilmember Jensen stated on January 25, he attended the St. Anthony Fire Relief Association 20 <br />meeting. On January 20, he attended the Kiwannis meeting as well as the History Committee 21 <br />meeting. There has been a book published, More Pigs Than People, that is available at the 22 <br />Community Center. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Councilmember Stille stated the Council participated on January 14-15 in the annual goal setting 25 <br />retreat. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Councilmember Brever had nothing to report. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Mayor Faust stated the Council worked very hard on the goal setting session. On January 20, 30 <br />Mayor Faust attended the Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization retreat and 31 <br />goal setting, which is coming along. 32 <br /> 33 <br />VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Mayor Faust invited residents to come forward at this time and address the Council on items that 36 <br />are not on the regular agenda. Hearing none, Mayor Faust moved forward with the agenda. 37 <br /> 38 <br />IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS – NONE. 39 <br /> 40 <br />X.
