r!' -2- • /Omr- Nordell, representing Firestone Inc., presented plans for the construction f aservice center on lot 11, Apache proposed preliminary plat. After con- siderable discussion, Councilman Dougherty moved and seconded by Councilman Emond that the Firestone development plan be approved providing for a 250 sq. ft. variance in size of signs and also a variance in number of signs, and that proposed boulevard trees be located 101 from curb line. Voting on the motion: Ayes O'Connor, Dougherty, Emond Nay: Bailey, Springer "">Motion Carried. The proposed addition to the Berger Transfer building was reviewed. Council- man Bailey moved and seconded by Mayor O'Connor that the plan be approved as recommended by the Planning Board. \ Motion Carried. ThCe Medtronics parking proposal was discussed at length. The ouncil agreed that the 380 car parking lot was adequate. Councilman Dougherty moved and seconded by Councilman Springer that preliminary approval be given to the Medtronics parking plane and that the proposal be returned to the Planning Board for traffic flow studies as to ingress & egress on Old Highway #8. • ' ,-Motion Carried. The report of the Village Attorney regarding Johnson Florists was discussed. Mr. Leba inquired as to whether the other wholesale establishments visited were in a commercial or industrial zone. Mr. Haik replied that he assumed they were commercial and had made no attempt to verify the zoning, but that the Johnson Florist operation as set up by the zoning ordinance was a legal operation in the Village. The matter of outlining permitted items to be sold was discussed. The Village Manager was directed to notify Mr. John Johnson that he was to cease the handling of building materials for resale at his Edwards St. plant. Various communications were received and ordered filed. The 3rd quarter Municipal Liquor Store report was reviewed and ordered filed. The Village Manager was directed to inform Mr. Dunphy that the Village was interested in acquiring lot 17, Block 11, Mounds View Acres 2nd Addition. Upon motion by Mayor O'Connor and seconded by Councilman Bailey it was moved that the payment of $3213.56 be released from the sewer escrow fund for pay- ment to the Village 6f Roseville, per invoice No. 978 dated November 2, 1967. Motion Carried. The Council gave verbal approval to a request of employees of Control Data • to hold a Christmas party dance at Apache Plaza December 15, 1967. A meeting was set for December 5, 1967, to meet with residents affected by the improvement of Silver Lane at 7:00 P.M. and with District 282 School Board at 8:00 P.M. / i
