-2-
Mr.
2-Mr. Tony Meyers, 3536 Silver Lake Road inquired as to lot width for residential
construction. He was informed of the minimum width and also of the fact that prop-
erties platted prior to the Zoning Ordinance were exempt from this provision of the
Ordinance. The Mayor declared this portion of the hearing closed.
The improvement of Ditch #2, #3 was next considered. Mrs. Chester Nelson inquired
as to the assessment against her property. She was informed by the Mayor. Mrs.
Nelson questioned an assessment on adjacent property she had sold. On further
question she stated there was a contract for deed involved on one transaction,
but that another tract had been sold outright. Mr. Haik informed Mrs. Nelson that
the new owner evidently had not filed the deed. Mrs. Nelson entered an objection
based on the fact that some of the properties listed were no longer owned by her.
John Durand, 4025 Shamrock Drive inquired as to the assessment on his property and
the amount was given by the Mayor. Mr. Swanell, Soo Line Railroad, apposed the
improvement as not being of any benefit to the Railroad. He presented written
objections to the improvement to the Mayor. Mr. Dave Ross, Soo Line Railroad
stated further that there was no basis for the assessment and that a full assessment
was not justified. Mr. Haik informed Mr. Ross that the assessment proceedure used
in the preparation of the assessment roll treated all property equally regardless
of use and that the assessment proceedure followed Statute requirements.
Mrs. Vernon Ketchum, 3507 Harding Street asked if her property was included in the
assessment. A search of the roll failed to disclose an assessment against the
property described. She was informed that her property was within the assessment
area and that if the property was excluded from the roll on further examination,
a correction would be made to include her property. Mr. Meyers inquired as to the
assessment against his property at 3536 Silver Lake Road. The Mayor informed
• him of the assessment against his property. Mr. Paul Ross, Lot 5, Block 6, Gardena
Acres, objected to an assessment against his sisters property as there was no
benefit. Mr. Ross presented a written protest to the Mayor. There being no
further questions on the improvements, the Mayor declared the hearing closed.
Councilman Crouse introduced Resolution No. 68-049, with the provision that corner
properties on the other affected properties on 33rd Avenue N.
