Representatives
of the Fire Department present expressed a desire for the Council to set up such
a program with a 2 mill levy to finance the cost. Opinions were expressed by
Council members as to whether the philosophy of a Volunteer Group should be to
have adequate life and disability insurance program as opposed to a retirement
program. Some Council members felt that they had not been given adequate time to
fully consider the various alternatives. Members of the Fire Department stated
that they felt the Village was financially able to consider such a pension plan
as outlined in the study made by the Wirt Wilson Company. Mayor O'Connor stated
that the Council would have a decision on the matter by December 31 , 1968.
The 1969 Budget proposal was reviewed for final approval .
