_.2
Mayor 14iedtke arrived at 7:45 P.M.
• Mrs. Grace McGinn presented the recommendations from the Planning Board as
contained in the minutes of the Planning Board meeting August 20, 1974. Also
present for the presentation were Mr. Hiebel and Mr. Bowerman of the Planning
Board.
Mr. Roger Bernu and Mike Peterson of the Bernu Construction Company, 7420
Unity Avenue North, presented the final plans for a three story office build-
ing they proposed to build on Lots 11-12, Block 1 (New Plat) of the St.
Anthony Office Park. The builder pointed out changes in the plans which had
been made in accordance with suggestions made by the Planning Board which
included a reduction of the number of parking stalls from 108 to 88; the
addition of a service delivery area as well as handicapped stalls near the
building entrance and a trash area positioned near the air conditioning unit.
He showed a colored drawing of the building which would be located in the
southeast corner of the office park formed by Highway 8 and County Road C.
Mr. Bernu explained that his company completely finishes a building at the
outset and places partitions for tenants according to their needs. He
estimated that there might be as many as 25 tenants in the building. Follow-
ing further discussions on the parking and the type of sign allowed by City
ordinance the following motion was made:
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Sauer to grant a
building permit for the Bernu office building as presented, subject to the
approval of the fire and building departments and the Building Inspector and
• to refer the landscaping and signing plans back to the Planning Board for
their approval.
Motion carried.
Mr. Mike Donatelle presented his plans for the machine shop he and his
brother proposed to build at Chandler Drive and Foss Road including the
lighting, landscaping and parking plans. When questioned about his intentions
of temporarily renting half of the building and whether the parking spaces
would be sufficient to provide for the tenant's needs, Mr. Donatelle said
he would have to be very selective in renting the space so as to avoid any
such problems.
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Sauer to grant a building
permit for the Donatelle machine shop as presented, subject to the approval
of the fire department and the Building Inspector, and to refer the lands-
caping, lighting and signing plans to the Planning Board for their approval.
Motion carried.
Mr. & Mrs. Dale Michaeloff, 906 W. County Road D, Apt. 233, showed the
Council the letters they had received from the FHA and IDS indicating refusal
of financing for either a single family or double bungalow to be built on the
southwest corner of Silver Lake Road and 37th Avenue N.E. and the couple
requested a change of zoning of the lot to "restricted light commercial".
Mayor Miedtke said the Council would have to have a proposal of a specific
use of the property before acting on their request and said if they returned
ip to the Planning Board with a specific rezoning request, the Board might take
into consideration the mortgageability of the lot as they considered that
property in their review of the zoning ordinances.
