• CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> November 12, 1974 <br /> • The meeting was called to order by Mayor Miedtke at 7:30 P.M. <br /> The following were present for roll call: Haik, Sauer, Sundland, Miedtke and <br /> Stauffer. <br /> Also present: Larry Vickrey, City Attorney <br /> Jim Fornell, Adm. Assistant <br /> The following amendments were made to the Council minutes of October 22, 1974: <br /> Page 2-para. 1: Add "Councilman Haik also felt the granting of the variance <br /> might limit the potential of the neighbor to legally expand <br /> his house to his side yard limits". <br /> Page 2-para. 2: Councilman Sundland voted "Nay" to the motion to deny the <br /> variance. <br /> Page 3-para.4: Substitute "to amend wording requiring dual toilet facilities <br /> for "to amend the motion requiring toilet facilities". <br /> Page 5-para.7: Substitute "apply for deferment" for "to appear before the <br /> Council to apply for deferement". <br /> Page 6-last para:Add "Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Mayor Miedtke <br /> to adjourn at 11:30 P.M. Motion carried". <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Sauer to approve the <br /> minutes of October 22nd as amended. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mayor Miedtke extended an invitation to the Council to attend the November 19th, <br /> 1974 Human Relation Committee meeting which would be attended by Hans Selvog <br /> and he made mention of the memo from the committee which indicated a revision <br /> of the program for the elderly. <br /> George Wynn, Chairman of the 1974 St. Anthony Celebration, presented the <br /> financial statement for the event and requested that the Council approve pay- <br /> ment of $450.00 to cover the debt incurred by the celebration. <br /> A discussion followed on whether the Council wanted to continue the practice of <br /> subsidizing future community celebrations if more interest were not shown by <br /> the service organizations of the community and yet the possibility of some <br /> underwriting of the Bicentennial Celebration in 1975. <br /> Motion by Councilman Stauffer, seconded by Councilman Sauer to approve payment <br /> of $450.00 toward the 1974 St. Anthony Celebration but to require a report from <br /> those heading future celebrations on the commitment of local organizations <br /> prior to incurring a deficit which might be anticipated to be paid by the City. <br /> Before voting on the motion, Mayor Miedtke said he thought the Council had <br /> indicated an unwillingness to pay any deficit resulting from this year's <br /> celebration and made a motion to table action to allow time to review the <br /> minutes of the Council meeting where the plans for the celebration were discussed. <br />
