` -3- <br /> Motion carried. <br /> • The City Manager and Mayor reported on Congressman Fraser's visit to the City. <br /> The City Manager reported on the MTC's request for a prioritization of potential <br /> bus shelters in the City. <br /> Motion by Councilman Haik, seconded by Councilman Sauer to designate bus stops <br /> at Silver Lane and Silver Lake Road and at 33rd Avenue N.E. and Stinson as <br /> having highest priority for bus shelters. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to adjust the <br /> DuRand sewer bill for the second through fourth quarters to $13.30• <br /> Motion carried. <br /> No action was taken on the Johnson request. <br /> The Council was reminded of the public hearing on the implementation of the <br /> development framework in fully developed areas scheduled for September 4th at <br /> 1:30 P.M. at the Metro Council Chambers. <br /> Jim Fornell reported on the Hennepin County Solid Waste Utilization proposal. <br /> The Council indicated they may want to adopt a position on the proposal in the <br /> future. <br /> The City Manager reported on the video taping of sanitary se-TTer lines, report- <br /> ing that there were a few problem areas with cracked and sunken pipes but <br /> nothing that would greatly impend the flow. <br /> Councilman Haik wondered whether the City staff had taken steps to double <br /> chec!t on bank statement reconciliations and the signing of checks. The City <br /> M--imager said it is sometimes difficult with the small staff the City has to do <br /> so, <br /> Mayor Miedtke wanted the City Manager to be sure we receive sufficient <br /> collateral to protect our Certificates of Deposit. <br /> 'Ihe Treasurer's Report on revenue sharing was filed as informational. <br /> Motion by Councilman Haik, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to direct the City <br /> Manager to send a letter to the Rice Creek Watershed District superintendent <br /> st%ting the City Council's objection to the filling of the ponds near the <br /> southeast corner of Silver Lake Road and County Rd "E" in New Brighten, citing <br /> the harm to the watershed. <br /> The City Manager informed the Council of the Ramsey County League meeting <br /> on Wednesday. <br /> Councilman Haik reported on plans for the Bicentennial-a calend,-Ar, a band, an <br /> • oral history, school projects and a community ball. <br /> 14 yor Miedtke inquired as to any interest by councilmen on serving on an <br /> Association of Metro Municipalies study committee. <br />
