City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> August 13, 2002 <br /> Page 4 <br /> • Mayor Hodson stated that he felt that the Council, with the exception of Councilmember <br /> Sparks, was in favor of having City Council presence at each of the Task Force meetings. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Thuesen, second by Councilmember Sparks, adopting <br /> Resolution 02-062, re: Establishing a Public Works/Fire Facility Task Force and <br /> appointment of members. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> VIII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> City Manager Mike Morrison reviewed his report with the Council: <br /> • Financial Strategies adoption/September 10, 2002. <br /> • Update on Apache Plaza/September 10, 2002. <br /> • Update on Three Rivers Park master planning process. They plan on attending an <br /> upcoming Council meeting. <br /> • DNR Funding: City of St. Anthony will receive $740,000; 3 of the 44 cities received <br /> funding. <br /> • Liquor referendum on November 5, 2002 ballot. Regarding referendum, item will be on <br /> the Newsletter mid to late September and a public forum will be held on October 21, <br /> 2002. <br /> • Due to State Primary Election, the September 10, 2002 City Council meeting will begin <br /> • at 8:00 p.m. <br /> • The next work session is scheduled for October 1, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> • Monday, December 9, 2002 will be the last meeting of 2002, if we do not need a <br /> continuation meeting for Truth in Taxation purposes. <br /> • The next joint meeting of the School Board/City Council will be on October 29, 2002. <br /> • Update on LaNel Development: They are going to present a Concept Plan to the Planning <br /> Commission for the property at Kenzie Terrace at their October meeting. <br /> Councilmember Horst reiterated that, regarding Task Forces, it is important to have public input, <br /> as well as City official presence. He added that it was the responsibility of the Council to <br /> represent the true interest of the community. <br /> Councilmember Sparks requested a report from the Parks Commission, as she feels that there is a <br /> lot of interest on behalf of the community to know where the project is at this point. <br /> Councilmember Sparks indicated that National Night Out was very successful, as there were 25 <br /> block parties of which she made it to 7. <br /> Councilmember Sparks stated that the Community Theater was a great evening, filled with local <br /> talent. <br /> Councilmember Thuesen commended the Police and Fire Departments for their courage and <br /> • dedication to the City of St. Anthony. <br /> Councilmember Thuesen stated that National Night Out was really a beneficial experience. <br />
