S_S
MEMORANDUM
•
DATE: April 16, 1996
TO: Michael Morrison, City Manager
Kim Moore-Sykes, Management FROM: y Assistant
ITEM: Livable Communities Action Plan Workshop
Attached is a copy of the Action Plan summary with what the Met Council is looking for
in a submitted Action Plan. It looks to be very straightforward and will tie in nicely with
the work that we need to do for the Comp. Plan Update.
There are several ideas that the City can discuss in the Action Plan, but the one that I felt
was most important to St. Anthony in maintaining their housing goals was the suggestion
on being flexible with local controls and approval of land use regulations. As you can see,
the Met Council proposes considering relaxing regulations on lot sizes, lot coverages,
setbacks, etc.
• The other issue for the City's Action Plan is the timeline for submittal to the Met Council.
All Action Plans has to be submitted by June 30, 1996 with a resolution from the City
Council. I thought I could have it ready for Council comment at the June 4 Council
Worksession and have the Council act on it either at the June 10th Council meeting or the
June 25th Council meeting.
•
