Jackson, 4'h Flr.
Chicago, IL 60604
Dear Jeanne:
Enclosed is an application packet for a proposed Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
project under DDI 187 by the City of Saint Anthony. An area of the City has experienced
recurring damage after intense, short duration rainfalls due to inadequate storm sewer
capacity. The City is proposing to solve the problem by acquiring and demolishing five
homes from willing sellers, and then constructing three small, dry stormwater ponds.
• We have conducted a benefit/cost analysis which demonstrates the project would be cost-
effective. In our opinion the project would qualify for categorical exclusion from further
environmental review under categories (vii) & (xvi).
The City has not been participating in the National Flood Insurance Program (no mapped
flood plain), but has recently submitted an application to join.
Thanks for your consideration of this request. Should you have any questions, please
contact me at 612-296-0469 or Steve Prestin at 612-296-2007.
Sincerely,
Terri Smith
State Hazard Mitigation Officer
Enclosure
cc:VK4ike Mornson, City Administrator
• Todd Hubmer, Consulting Engineer
AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
