z
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mike Mornson, City Manager
FROM: Jay Hartman, Director of Public Works
DATE: April 27, 1998
RE: Sidewalk Evaluation
Per your request, I have completed an evaluation of both county roads and MSA roads
that have sidewalks adjacent to them. The results of the survey are as follows.
Presently, we have 10 roadways within our city limits, which are designed as MSA and
receive MSA funding. Three of these 10 roadwadys have sidewalk incorporated into
them. The roads are St. Anthony Boulevard, 33` Avenue NE and 37th Avenue NE. The
only other roadway, which has a sidewalk, is Silver Lake Road. This is a county road
and is not designated as MSA.
Below, I have rated each sidewalk segment, starting with the sidewalks that are in the
best condition to the sidewalks that are in poor condition.
37`h Avenue—The condition of the sidewalk on 37`h Avenue is very good.
The sidewalk starts at Silver Lake Road and runs east/west to Stinson
Boulevard, along the north side. This sidewalk rates the highest because
it is the most recent sidewalk projects to be finished.
29th Avenue—The condition of the sidewalk on 29h Avenue is good.
This section of sidewalk starts at Silver Lake Road and runs east/west to
Crestview on the north side. There is also a short section on the south side
that runs from Silver Lake Road to the entrance of Silver Point Park. Both
sections are in good shape and not in need of repair.
Kenzie Terrace—The condition of the Kenzie Terrace sidewalk is also in
good condition. The sidewalk runs from Silver Lake Road to Stinson
Boulevard on both sides of the street, with the exception of one small
section, which is not in place. This missing section is west of Coolidge
Street NE and is approximately 200 feet long.
