CALL TO ORDER. <br /> 8 Meeting called to order at 6:40 p.m. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 II. ROLL CALL. <br /> 11 Councilmembers Present: Ranallo, Marks, Faust, Cavanaugh, and Thuesen. <br /> 12 Also Present: Michael Mornson, City Manager; Kim Moore-Sykes, Management <br /> 13 Assistant; Bob Kost, BRW, Inc.; and Todd Hubmer, WSB, Inc. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 III. WELCOME BY MAYOR. <br /> 16 The Mayor welcomed everyone to the evening's events. He thanked Carol Jindra for <br /> 17 all of her efforts regarding the parks. He said it was Carol's idea to put together the <br /> 18 evening's ice cream social to promote the parks redevelopment. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 The Mayor reported that the Parks Task Force completed its work on April 28' and <br /> 21 presented its recommendations to the City Council. He said that establishing a parks <br /> 22 commission was one of the recommendations, which is in the planning stages. He <br /> 23 invited everyone who was interested in being appointed to the Parks Commission to <br /> 04 submit a letter of interest to the City Manager by June 23`d. He reported that the Parks <br /> 25 Commission will consist of seven council-appointed voting members and three non- <br /> 26 voting representatives from Community Services, Sports Boosters and the School <br /> 27 District. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 IV. PRESENTATION OF CENTRAL PARK PLAN BY BOB KOST, BRW, INC. <br /> 30 Bob Kost reviewed the mission of the Parks Task Force and reported that with <br /> 31 impending storm water improvements that may impact the City's parks, the Task Force <br /> 32 decided to focus on the planning of the redevelopment of Central Park. He stated that <br /> 33 the Task Force wanted to create a place that was multi-generational, providing <br /> 34 recreational activities for everyone. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 In their planning of Central Park, Kost stated that the Task Force decided to go beyond <br /> 37 the boundaries of the "box" because there are so many recreational demands on Central <br /> 38 Park. He said that it was understood that the resultant plan would have an impact on <br /> 39 the current park equipment and design. Kost stated several uses that were listed as <br /> 40 important uses or facilities for the redesigned Central Park: natural wetland to <br /> 41 accommodate occasional storm water storage needs, trail system to connect Central <br /> 42 Park to various uses and the City Hall, concession stands and lavatories, playground <br /> 43 areas at the north and south ends of the Park, reconfigured ball fields, and performing <br /> 44 arts amphitheater. <br /> .45 <br /> 6 <br />
