MEMORANDUM
DATE: October 13, 1998
TO: Michael Mornson, City Manager
FROM: Connie Kroeplin, City Clerk
ITEM: POLITICAL SIGNS
Chief Johnson and I discussed the placement of political signs. We concluded
that the City Ordinance should be amended to read that "Political signs are not
allowed within ten feet from the curb". The ordinance now reads 15 feet from
the curb.
I contacted the Cities of New Brighton, Mounds View, Fridley, and Arden
Hills. The following were their comments:
New Brighton 7 feet from the curb
Mounds View no ordinance regulating distance from the curb for
the placement of political signs
Fridley 10 feet from the curb and driveways
Arden Hills "Not in right of way" (she stated 10 to 15 feet
from curb)
Attached is a draft ordinance for Council's consideration.
