3
Memo
To: Michael Morrison, City Manager
From Kim Moore-Sykes, Management Assistant
Date: 01/27/99
Re: Y2K Compliance Status Report
The inventory of equipment and vehicles is almost complete. Staff has concentrated
on those vehicles and equipment that are critical to the safety and welfare of the
Community. Each Department Head will be present at the February 2"d Worksession
to report on their efforts to achieve compliance, the estimated costs associated with
becoming compliant and the status of their department at this time.
• All of the Staff that makes up the Y2K Team has been to several seminars and
information workshops regarding the Y2K issue. They are fully informed on the
issues, have a clear understanding of the importance of the situation and are
confident that basic, critical provision of services will not be jeopardized by non-
compliant equipment.
Residents. As Staff representative from the Administration Department, I have been
involved with insuring that the residents are fully informed about Y2K what impact it
may have on them personally; what to do to minimize that impact; and where to go or
who to contact for assistance with their individual needs. This information is in the
current community newsletter that was recently distributed to the community. I have
posted the City s Y2K policy on our Web site and received an e-mail from a resident
concerned about the water and sanitary systems. That e-mail was passed on to the
Public Works Director and he responded to that resident's questions.
Administration Department Equipment.
1. Telephones. I have contacted Pat McCarthy of ESI, the company that
provided us with the phone system; he responded with a letter that the
phone system is compliant, with minor issues. I have a call into him to
discuss what the minor issues are.
2. Computers. NetLink has indicated to me that the personal computers are
compliant The software that we use, Windows 95, is compliant, again
0 Page 1
