ANTHONY <br /> 6 <br /> 7 CITY COUNCIL/PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> 8 JOINT MEETING MINUTES <br /> 9 March 9, 1999 <br /> 10 5:45 p.m. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 <br /> 13 I. CALL TO ORDER. <br /> 14 The Mayor called the meeting to order. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 II. MAYOR TO PRESENT AN UPDATE ON CITY GOALS AND ISSUES. <br /> 17 1. City 1999 Goals and Issues. The Mayor presented an update to the Planning Commission <br /> 18 with the City's 1999 goals and issues. He reported that the Harding area residents asked <br /> 19 the Council to consider seven alternatives to using their neighborhood for storm water <br /> 20 mitigation. He reported that the study was recently finished and WSB had presented them <br /> 21 with estimated costs. He reported that the Council will be making a decision at the March <br /> 22 23rd Council meeting. <br /> 23 2. St. Anthony Shopping Center. The Mayor reported that the St. Anthony Shopping <br /> 24 Center has a group interested in purchasing it. He also informed them that the City has <br /> 0-5 retained Richard Krier to assist with redevelopment plans for the area as well. The Mayor <br /> 26 indicated that the Council will be meeting with the residents and merchants of the Kenzie <br /> 27 area, Richard Krier, and developers. He said that the Planning Commission will be copied <br /> 28 on the report of that meeting. <br /> 29 3. Apache Plaza. The Mayor reported that the Regal Theater Group is ready to break <br /> 30 ground, but continues to negotiate with Herberger's. The Mayor indicated that <br /> 31 Herberger's is opening in Rosedale in the old Montgomery Ward's site and may close at <br /> 32 Apache in December. <br /> 33 4. Parks. The Planning Commission reported that they continue to get reports from the Parks <br /> 34 Commission. <br /> 35 5. Public Works Facilities. The Mayor reported that the City will hire a consultant to <br /> 36 develop construction plans for a new Public Works facility. <br /> 37 6. Salvation Army Camp. The Mayor reported that an ad hoc committee of City <br /> 38 and School Board representatives will be formed to discuss the possibility of the Camp's <br /> 39 sale and the joint City and School Board purchase. He reported that the Camp Director <br /> 40 indicated that the Salvation Army is considering their options. <br /> 41 7. Y2k. The Mayor reported that the City is mostly in compliance and that NSP has indicated <br /> 42 that their power system will be compliant before Jan. 1. <br /> 43 8. Silver Lake Road Bridge. The Mayor reported that Ramsey County will be reconstructing <br /> 44 the Silver Lake Road Bridge starting January 2000 and planned completion in September <br /> 45 2000. <br /> •46 <br /> 6 <br />
