REVIEW SPORTS BOOSTER LETTER <br /> • 4 The City Manager presented a letter he received from the Sports Boosters regarding their <br /> 5 request for the City to purchase or lease additional land to facilitate the need for the outdoor <br /> 6 sports activities for the youth and adult participants. The City Council directed the City <br /> 7 Manager to give the letter to the Parks Commission. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 XI. DISCUSS PROPOSAL FROM FRASER CHILD & FAMILY CENTER TO LOCATE IN <br /> 10 OLD TOWN & COUNTYR PROPERTY <br /> 11 The City Manager reported he put this letter in the agenda packet as an FYI item. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 XII. DISCUSS FUTURE COUNCIL AGENDA ITEMS <br /> 14 1. The City Manager reported that he is adding a resolution supporting the acquision of <br /> 15 the abandoned portion of the BNSF railway by the Hennepin County Rail Authority to <br /> 16 the May 11' Council meeting agenda. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 2. The City Manager reported that usually the Council has no worksession meeting in July <br /> 19 unless there are several issues that need to be discussed. He indicated that there are <br /> 20 five Tuesdays in June and a worksession could be scheduled for June 29'. The <br /> 21 Council agreed to meet on June 29'. Faust indicated that he would like to discuss <br /> 22 about Council compensation and would like to see what other cities pay their city <br /> 23 councils. <br /> 24 <br /> OF, <br /> 5 XIII. OTHER BUSINESS <br /> 6 1. Silver Lake Camp Committee Report. The committee is recommending that AB <br /> 27 Appraisal be hired to do the appraisal of the Silver Lake Camp. Their estimate for <br /> 28 doing the appraisal is $7,000 and this cost will be split with the school district. The <br /> 29 Council felt that other governmental agencies be contacted regarding interest, financial <br /> 30 capacity, etc; they directed the City Manager and the School Superintendent to do this. <br /> 31 Thuesen indicated that it is important to know what Hennepin and Ramsey counties' <br /> 32 interest is on the acquisition of the Silver Lake Camp. Marks agreed. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 2. Proposed Moratorium on Silver Lake Cama. The City Manager reported on the <br /> 35 statutory requirements and responsibilities for the City should the Council decide to put <br /> 36 a moratorium on the future development of this property. He said that the moratorium <br /> 37 would only prevent construction, rezoning and redevelopment of the property for one <br /> 38 year; it would not preclude the Salvation Army from selling it. The City Manager also <br /> 39 reported that the City Attorney said that the City can waive the second and third <br /> 40 readings for the proposed moratorium. The City Manager said that establishing a <br /> 41 moratorium for the site would give the City time to review any proposals and to <br /> 42 conduct a study to determine the best use for this property. He indicated that this item <br /> 43 will be on the May 11' Council meeting. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 3. Proposed Park Dedication Ordinance.
