JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> COMMUNITY RECREATION AND ADULT EDUCATION DIRECTOR <br /> 1 ) Primary Function: The Recreational Director shall : <br /> a) Organize a recreational and adult education program for community citizens <br /> of all ages and interests. <br /> b) Coordinate recreational activities sponsored by other community organiza- <br /> tions to insure maximum utilization of facilities and maximum participa- <br /> tion. <br /> c) Organize and coordinate the adult education program with the approval of <br /> the Superintendent of Schools as to instructors and courses offered. <br /> 2) Source of Supervision: The Recreational Director shall report directly to the <br /> Village Manager both administratively and managerially. <br /> 3 ) Education and Experience: The Recreation Director should meet the criteria as <br /> set forth by the State Department of Education (M.S.A. 471 . 10. Experience <br /> in this field is essential. <br /> 4) Direction of Others: The Recreation Director shall supervise such employees <br /> as are necessary and approved for the performance of his duties. <br /> 5) Duties and Function: The following are intended to be examples of the types of <br /> duties to be performed by the Recreation Director. They are not intended to be <br /> inclusive or limiting. Creativity in the expansion of existing programs and <br /> the development of new programs is encouraged. The Recreation Director shall : <br /> • a) Plan and organize community recreation and adult education programs com- <br /> plimenting existing school and civic organization programs. <br /> b) Establish and submit a yearly preliminary budget to the sponsoring School <br /> Board and the Village Council by August of preceding year, final budget <br /> to be submitted by September 1st. <br /> c) Coordinate all community recreation and adult education activities into <br /> a comprehensive, coherent program. <br /> d) Assist in the organization of new special interest groups such as senior <br /> citizens, plays, garden clubs, swimming clubs, etc. <br /> e) Provide overall publicity coverage for all community recreation and adult <br /> education activities. <br /> f) Schedule use of all available facilities (not including school sponsored <br /> events on school property ) to the best interest of the community. <br /> g) Provide to the Village and School District for their dissemination to <br /> the citizens, an annual report describing the program history and approv- <br /> ed future plans. <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: <br /> )rl lage Manager <br />
