• AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF BLOOMINGTON <br /> AND THE CITY OF ST. ANTHONY FOR <br /> PROVISION OF HEPATITIS B VACCINE <br /> This Agreement made this day of , <br /> 1991, by and between the City of Bloomington ( "Bloomington" ) and <br /> the City of St. Anthony ( " St. Anthony <br /> WHEREAS, Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by <br /> the hepatitis B virus; and <br /> WHEREAS, each year approximately 300, 000 persons in the United <br /> States are afflicted with hepatitis B, more than 100000 persons <br /> require hospitalization and an estimated 250 people die from the <br /> disease; and <br /> WHEREAS, persons who may be at risk of acquiring hepatitis B <br /> due to their job responsibilities include such governmental <br /> employees as nurses, paramedics, law enforcement personnel, and <br /> firefighters; and <br /> WHEREAS, a key strategy for preventing the spread of hepatitis <br /> B is to vaccinate individuals with a high risk of infection; and <br /> WHEREAS, Bloomington, through its Division of Public Health, <br /> has agreed to vaccinate employees of approximately 24 <br /> municipalities in order to minimize infection with hepatitis B; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the parties hereto, in consideration of the <br /> convenants thereinafter set forth, agree as follows: <br /> 1. Bloomington, through its Division of Public Health, <br /> will administer the Hepatitis B vaccine to any employee of <br /> St. Anthonywho consent to be vaccinated.
