-2-
b. Discussion of Joint Council/Planning Board Meeting to review rewriting
. of zoning ordinance. The Planning Board has begun to rewrite the zoning
ordinance and I feel that it would be a.dviseable for the Council and the
Planning Board to meet jointly and review what they have accomplished and
what they hope to accomplish as they proceed. We might avoid some of the
problems that arose when the sign ordinance was rewritten by having this
meeting now and possibly some future meetings before the redrafting is
completed.
8. New Business
a. AFS Award
b. Sub. Public Health Nurse Karen Stanley to discuss report on activities
of district and to answer questions for council regarding Nursing District.
c. St. Charles Borromeo-The Mardi Gras Festival Committee at St. Charles
is requesting a 3.2 beer license for their festival.
ACTION: I have discussed with the police chief and he and I see no reason
why it shouldn' t be granted as long as they are aware of and obey the law.
9. Communications/Petitions
a. Petition regarding street lights for alley S of 27th Avenue N.E. Resident-
s adjacent to this alley and other alleys in the City have suffered some
problems with theft and vandalism but I don't feel its much greater than in
other areas of the City where we also have theft from garages, storage sheds
etc. I have received calls requesting lights from a few individuals who have
alleys and have to date advised them that we do not light alleys because there
are not many in the city and we don't even have the streets properly lighted
• yet. All of the alley and backyard lights existing in the city are individ-
ually paid for or are paid for by a group of residents benefiting from the
light. '
ACTION: Recommend we do not begin installing alley or backyard lighting.
b. Marvin T. Fi.byonske regarding storm sewer project 1972-1. Larry received
this letter i.n re:;ponse to our refusal to pay Lhe additional charges North-
dale claimed it`had -coming. Without reviewing with the Council and Larry
I'm not prepared to make a recommendation.
ACTION: Review at Council meeting.
c.
