CITY OF ST. ANTHONY
• COUNCIL AGFNDA
May 13,1975
L. Call to Order
2. Roll Call
3. Council Minutes
a. Special Meeting 4/29/75
b. Council Meeting 4/22/75
4. Council Board Reports
a. Human Relations Minutes 4/15/75
5. Public Hearing
a. Jack Maxwell request for variance. You will note that Mr. Maxwell's
request is for a 2' variance from the 30' front yard setback requirement.
However the ordinance deals with setback in two different ways. In 300.05
Subdivision 7, Item 1 a 30' setback is required for single family resident
and in 300.81 Subdivision 6, Item 3 the ordinance talks about the setback
as the average of houses on the block or a maximum of 50 ft. The average
setback of the houses in the block Mr. Maxwell lives in is approximately
52 ft. The Planning Commission chose to consider the 30 ft. as applying in
this case.
ACTION: I would recommend that we allow Mr. Maxwell the variance. I feel
we should encourage anyone we can to improve houses on Silver Lake Road
or I feel we'll eventually began to see them become rundown etc. because of
the heavy traffic on the street. We already have several that have been
renting apartments, etc. on Silver Lake Road. Homes that have been up for
sale on Silver Lake Road haven't sold nearly as well as ones in other
locations in the city either.
6. Ordinances/Resolutions
a. Resolution #75-029 A RESOLUTION REGARDING COOPERATIVE PURCHASING AGREE-
MENT WITH STATE OF MINNESOTA. Attached you will find information regarding
joining the state in purchasing certain items.
ACTION: Recommend we adopt resolution so we can take advantage of states
quantity purchases if to our advantage. The agreement or resolution won't
require the city to purchase anything with the state but will allow us to if
its to our advantage.
7. Old Business
a. Salvation Army Agreement. I received the attached letter on 5/7/75• I
have a meeting with Brig. Kish on 5/12/75 though and I hope we can convince
him to change his mind.
8. New Business
a. Award of bids-Aggregate, asphaltic oil, etc.
• ACTION: Recommend we award bids as follows: Aggregates-Anderson Aggregates
Asphalt-Dunkley
Oil-W.H. Barber*
*Although Koch is slightly lower for the oil we would have to go to Pine Bend
to pick it up and this would more than offset the price difference so I recommend
we award to Barber.
