C
7. Old Business
A. Letter from Community Services Advisory Council regarding pro-
posed park improvements and memo regarding wind screens for
tennis courts . I believe we have addressed most of the points
in the letter with the exception of the location of the tennis
courts and the wind screens. The staff concurs with the
recommendation regarding the location of the tennis courts
however, there are some serious reservations about the wind
screens. The reservations are based upon the cost and the
probability of vandalism to the screens. Vandalism in the
parks is more extensive each year and the screens would be an
easy target. We seem to get little help from the users of the
park who don't commit vandalism or the residents in apprehending
vandals so I question how long the screens will last. At the
urging of the tennis buffs, we installed tightening devices
for the nets this year and we have had numerous cables broken
by people misusing them and to date have had no reports of who
did the damage.
ACTION: Council.
B. Request for extension of conditional use permit for retirement
home - First American Care Facilities, letter attached.
ACTION: Council.
C. Request for reconsideration of Variance Request by Berger
Transfer. Paul Luxem, letter from Control Data Corporation.
Berger Transfer representatives will be present. The Zoning
Ordinance requires that the front setback be equal to the
average of the adjacent buildings which would require that
Berger setback the front of their building 5 feet, even if the
variance for the side yard was granted.
ACTION: Council.
8. New Business
A. Letter from residents on Skycroft Drive regarding traffic
problems. Letter attached. Three residents have contacted me
and indicated that they and their neighbors will be present
at the meeting.
ACTION: Council.
9. Communications/Petitions
A. Letter from Poppin Fresh Pies restaurant regarding proposed
improvements. I talked to Mr. McConkey and he seemed most
concerned about whether the council would consider :letting them
extend their building to the north at the present setback.
The parking as outlined would meet the ordinance.
ACTION: Council.
(2)
