• roadway was to be constructed with bituminous surfacing whether the width
would remain the same and the engineer replied that it would. Mr. Dick Sand,
2800 - 33rd Avenue N.E. stated that he felt that heavy traffic should be
rerouted and the street used as a residential street rather than as an arterial
street. Jams McNulty stated that if the project is to be initiated that
he felt concrete should be installed. Mike Shun stated that he feit the
street was "good as it is". A resident of 2800 - 33rd Avenue N.E. asked what
depth base a 7 ton road would call for and the engineer stated that it would
require a 14" base. Mrs. Marshall of 2811 - 33rd Ave. N.E. asked if a 7 ton
road would be feasible if the drainage on Silver Lake Road was eliminated.
The engineer stated that the moisture condition of the base is the criteria
for over designing a road. A resident at 2811 - 33rd Ave. stated that the
removal of bus and the water problem would solve the over design necessity.
Arnold Carlson, 2908 - 33rd Ave. N.E. asked if storm sewers were assessed on
a general basis, and he was informed that he was correct and that this prop-
osal for elimination of intersection water was considered as pert of road
construction rather than a general storm sewer improvement. Mr. McNulty
felt that the state aid funds should be held and the program not be installed
at this time. There being no further discussion, the Mayor closed the hearing.
The Council discussed the improvement at length.
Councilman Sorenson introduced a Resolution not ordering 1967 Street Improve-
ment, Item #1, 33rd Avenue from Stinson Boulevard to the St. Anthony High
S hoot .
• The resolution was duly seconded by Mayor O'Connor.
Voting on the resolution:
Aye: Sorenson, O'Connor
Nay: Dougherty, Springer
Absent not voting: Bailey
Resolution not adopted.
Councilman Dougherty introduced Resolution No. 67-038 and moved that it be
adopted.
RESOLUTION NO. 67-038
RESOLUTION ORDERING 1967 STREET IMPROVEMENT,
ITEM #1, 33RD AVENUE N.E. FROM STINSON BOULEVARD
TO A POINT 1350' EAST.
The resolution was duly seconded by Mayor O'Connor.
Councilman Springer offered the following amendment to the resolution and
moved its adoption.
AMENDMENT
THAT THE VILLAGE ENGINEER BE DIRECTED TO PREPARE
FINAL PIANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE TOTAL IMP-
ROVEMENT AS ORIGINALLY PROPOSED.
