-2-
Motion
2-Motion by Councilman Emond and seconded by Councilman Crouse that the request
for an additional sign by the St. Anthony State Bank be denied.
Motion Carried.
Mr. Dean Anklin, Ramsey County Engineer, Addressed the Council regarding
traffic openings on Silver Lake Road. He stated that traffic surveys have
shown that the daily traffic on Silver Lake Road indicates a traffic count
from 12,000 to 15,000 vehicles per day. He recommended that the Council
should consider types of development that would restrict openings. Legally,
he stated, I am bound to provide an opening for each property. Commercial
development on 37th Avenue is easier to control as the driveway opening design
manual provides for proper controls, he further stated. Mr. Anklin discussed
the upgrading of 37th Avenue N.E. and the installation of traffic signals
at County Road E and also at 37th Avenue N.E.
The Council recessed the meeting from 9:40 P.M. to 9:50 P.M.
Robert Bailey, Park Board Chairman, discussed the minutes of the Board's
meeting on April 2, 1968. He indicated that Mr. Dennison of the School
District and Mr. Iacarella, Summer Recreation Director, would coordinate
the Swim Program with instructional swimming at the School and recreational
swimming at Turtle Lake.
Ordinance 661 was considered for adoption. Mr. George Zahhos again presented
his objections to the rezoning, pointing out traffic problems caused by the
extension of commercial zoning.
Motion by Councilman Springer seconded by Councilman Crouse that the request
for approval of Ordinance No. 661 be denied.
Voting on the motion:
Aye: O'Connor, Springer, Dougherty, Emond, Crouse
Nay: None
Motion Carried.
Councilman Crouse introduced Resolution No. 68-022 and moved that it be
adopted.
RESOLUTION NO. 68-022
RESOLUTION RECEIVING ENGINEERS PRELIMINARY
REPORTS ON IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE YEAR 1968
AND CALLING FOR HEARING ON THE IMPROVEMENTS
The resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Dougherty.
Voting on the resolution:
Aye: O'Connor, Dougherty, Crouse, Springer, Emond
Nay: None
Resolution declared adopted.
