-4- <br /> The 1st Quarter Liquor Store Report was received by the Village Council . <br /> The Council directed that the landscape work agreed to by Vadnais Construction <br /> Company be complete before the law suit be dropped. <br /> The Council reviewed the May 27, 1968, letter from the Village Attorney RE: <br /> establishment of a recreation commission. <br /> Motion by Councilman Dougherty and seconded by Mayor O' Connor that the matter <br /> be tabled to June 4, 1968. <br /> Motion Carried. <br /> The Council recessed at 9:50 P.M. and reconvened at 10:00 P.M., all present. <br /> The matter of the Park shelter building was brought up for discussion. <br /> Mr. Bailey stated that the building could be scaled down to meet the estimated <br /> $21 ,000.00 and still hold to the basic design. He suggested alternate bids <br /> on some items. Other members of the Park Board concurred with the recomm- <br /> endation. Motion by Councilman Dougherty and seconded by Mayor O'Connor that <br /> the architect be directed to prepare final plans for the Central Park Shelter <br /> building. <br /> Motion Carried. <br /> It was noted that the Metropolitan Airports Commission will meet again <br /> concerning a new airport site on June 6, 1968. <br /> A petition was received regarding the control of burning trash and the place- <br /> ment of trash receptacles. A Mr. Bernard Veber, petitioner, stated that he <br /> felt burning should be eliminated in the Village as trash pick up was <br /> adequate. Mr. Jim Olson also expressed the opinion that all burning should <br /> be restricted in the Village. The Council felt that adequate controls were <br /> on the books to handle the particular problem Mr. l•/eber outlined. <br /> The Mayor called the second portion of the hearing on the District #4 Internal <br /> Storm Sewer to order. The area liable for assessment was reviewed and cost <br /> estimates given of approximately 3� per sq. ft. Mr. Robert Swanell, <br /> representative of the Soo Line R. R., appeared in opposition to the improve- <br /> ment. He presented a written protest to the Mayor which was received, read <br /> and ordered filed. It was estimated that the Soo Line R. R. property liable <br /> for assessment consisted of approximately 364,000 sq. ft. There being no <br /> further discussion the hearing was closed. <br /> Mr. Glen Puncochar presented a report of the Human Rights Committee. A brief <br /> outline of the recommendations was given to the Council by Mr. Puncochar. <br /> A minority report was given by Mr. Ualker, committee member. Mr. William <br /> Conroy questioned several statements in the report and asked Mr. Puncochar <br /> for clarification. There being no further discussion, Councilman Crouse moved <br /> and seconded by Mayor O'Connor that the matter of the report of the Human <br /> Rights Committee be tabled to the regular Council meeting of July 23, 1968. <br /> • Motion Carried. <br />
