-3- Further 3-Further action on the report and recommendations from the Public Safety Director was tabled until the May 12, 1970 meeting at which time Mr. Leonard was asked to present more definite figures as to the cost for the additions he recommended. The Council authorized the Public Safety Director to contact the Apache Plaza people and discuss the possibility of placing a, patrolman up there on a beat basis and also their paying the cost of it or at least the major part of it. The Mayor ordered that the March Reports from the Police and Fire Departments be filed. The Village Manager reported on the meeting with the Mediation Board for the Police Department. Motion by Councilman Kukielka and seconded by Mayor Miedtke to authorize the Village Manager to proceed with the settling of the police contracts on the basis of the auxiliary pay of $30.00 per month for the year 1970. Voting on the motion: Aye : Miedtke, Levandowski , Kukielka Nay: Emond Motion carried. The Village Manager presented the contract from the Fire Department. Motion by Councilman Kukielka and seconded by Councilman Levandowski that we accept the offer from the Fire Department as presented. Councilman Emond disagreed with Item 16 in the proposed contract, the reduction of the hours per week from 67.2 to 56, with one man to be appointed July 1st and one man October 1st, 1970. Voting on the motion: Aye: Miedtke, Levandowski, Kukielka Nay: Emond Motion carried. The Mayor ordered the March Liquor Report to be filed. The Village Manager was directed to draw up an ordinance on the collection of assessments for presentation at the next meeting and this was to be put on the agenda for the next meeting. Mayor Miedtke recommended that we make a commendation to Father Sisterman for his work on the Human Relations Advisory Committee. The Village Manager was directed to contact the Highway Department and find out the requirements and cost of a signal at Foss Road and 37th Avenue N.E.
