He told the addition of the pumper by St. Anthony <br /> would fill a void in the type of equipment needed by the Mutual Aid Group because <br /> Columbia Heights had just ordered an aerial rig and Roseville had a Snorkel. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to authorize the <br /> Fire Department to prepare the specifications fox• a new pumper with an <br /> automatic transmission. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Motion by Mayor Miedtke, seconded by Councilman Sauer to direct the City Attorney <br /> to prepare a modification of the sign ordinance which would in essence grant a <br /> variance for the non-conforming signs that don't have permits. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The City Manager was directed to write to all service organizations and schools <br /> asking for representatives to serve on the Committee for the St. Anthony Bi- <br /> Centennial Celebration. <br /> The position paper from Ramsey County Commissioner Knaak regarding hospital <br /> expansion was filed as informational and Councilman Haik reporied she was ex- <br /> pecting to receive additional pertinent information from another source. <br /> Wm. Bowen's letter to the Hennepin County Attorney's office regarding the Mpls. <br /> Parkboard suit was filed. <br /> The January police and fire reports were directed filed. <br /> The Treasurer's Report was directed filed. <br /> Mayor Miedtke congratulated Coundilman Sundlard on his appointment to the <br /> Metropolitan Transit Advisory Committee. <br /> Mr. Dulgar reported on contacts with Ramsey County regarding the property which <br /> may have to be acquired for the expansion of Silver Lake Road and said he had <br /> received the new traffic count on Silver Lake Road on which Ramsey County based <br /> its refusal of a traffic signal at Silver Lane. <br /> Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Sauer to direct the <br /> Planning Board to hold a public hearing at their next meeting, March 19, 197+ <br /> on granting a lot size variance whereby the Munkberg home at 3508 Roosevelt St. <br /> N.E. , which was destroyed by fire, could be replaced. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Stauffer reported that the AFS Citizenship Award would be made at <br /> the next meeting. <br /> • Councilman Sauer reported on the outcome of meetings of a committee of students, <br /> parents, police chief and Community Services Department regarding curfew hours. <br /> The Council requested that Barbara Davidson of the Community Services Department <br /> make a report to the Council of the findings and solutions to the problem as <br /> arrived at by the committee. <br />
