The Committee's
recommendation that Hans Selvog's contract be continued was also discussed and
action deferred until the item was reached on the agenda.
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to accept with
regret the resignation of Mr. Richard Carlson from the Planning Board and to
direct the City Manager to send a certification of the Council's appreciation for
services performed to Mr. Carlson.
A discussion followed on the filling of the two vacancies on the Board as well as
one on the Human Relations Committee and the interviews to be held July 15, 1974.
It was decided that all avenues would be explored to find qualified applicants to
fill the vacancies. There was also a discussion of the dual role held by George
Marks on the two committees.
Use of the newsletter and regional community get-togethers at which Council
members and staff members could exchange information with residents on city
planning were two of the methods advocated as means of informing residents of
community programs. Mr. Dulgar noted that plans for such meetings were already
contemplatedjr the Fire & Police Departments. Councilman Sundland felt the
maintenance and road improvement schedules should be publicized and Councilman
Stauffer felt the Council itself needed more briefing sessions in advance of
public hearings.
