Councilman Stauffer felt Mr. Van Tassel was talking about a highly developed park and said most of the work contemplated involved main- tenance except the plans for shoring up—the retaining wall and level- ing the shoreline on the north side. Councilman Stauffer said she believed the improvements would benefit the New Brighton properties and Mayor Miedtke agreed saying the bank stabilization which is con- templated will contribute to the preservation of the pond. He felt the aesthetics of the access road area should be enhanced and favored repairing the chain link fence protecting the spillway. Dennis Engle of the Mirror Lake Owners Association Board said there is an apathetic attitude on the part of most of the condominium owners regarding improving the pond. Motion by Mayor Miedtke and seconded by Councilman Haik to proceed, if CETA funding is available, to stabilize the bank and shoreline around the holding pond; to delineate the City property line and to improve by grading and landscaping the access road to the City property around the pond. Motion carried unanimously. Before recessing the meeting at 8 :25 P.M. , the Mayor told the New • Brighton residents that their City officials had been in close touch with the City's actions and were supportive of their constituents ' interests in the matter. The meeting was resumed at 8 : 35 P.M. to consider the Manager's recom- mendations regarding the bids which had been received for concrete, oil, aggregate and blacktop, copies of which were attached to the Agenda. Motion by Councilman Sauer and seconded by Councilman Haik to accept the low bids and award the contracts for concrete, oil, aggregate and blacktop to the low bidders as follows : COMPANY PRODUCT Ready Mix Concrete Company Concrete Koch Company Oil Barton Contracting Aggregate Dunkley Surfacing Inc. Blacktop Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Sauer and seconded by Councilman Haik to schedule a joint Council/Planning Board dinner meeting for either June 6th or June 23rd at which the City Attorney will conduct a training session related to variances, conditional use permits , etc. • Motion carried unanimously.
