City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> March 27, 2001 <br /> Page 5 <br /> • <br /> 1 C. Resolution 01-052, re: Adopt Strategic Planning Report. <br /> 2 Mornson explained that the proposed resolution would adopt the Strategic Planning Report <br /> 3 which was developed following the two Strategic Planning sessions conducted in January of <br /> 4 2001. <br /> 5 Mayor Cavanaugh stated that, back in January, the Council had a study session to establish their <br /> 6 goals for the City of St. Anthony. During that meeting, they created a Strategic Profile, which <br /> 7 consists of Core City Values, a Mission Statement, and Key Action Areas. Mayor Cavanaugh <br /> 8 reviewed them with the Council, as follows: <br /> 9 The Core City Values are: <br /> 10 Community, collaboration, resident focus, safe and secure environment, the feel of a <br /> 11 village, and fiscal responsibility. <br /> 12 The Mission Statement: <br /> 13 "Our Mission is to be a progressive and livable community, a `walkable' village which is <br /> 14 safe and secure, that invites residents to linger and enjoy our centralized environment." <br /> 15 Mr. Cavanaugh reviewed the 6 Key Action Plans as follows: <br /> 1. Flood protection <br /> 40 2. Redevelopment <br /> 18 3. Welcoming image and appearance <br /> 19 4. Strong infrastructure <br /> 20 5. A safe and secure environment <br /> 21 6. Clear and open communication <br /> 22 Mayor Cavanaugh explained from that point, the Council established seven goals. He read each <br /> 23 of the goals as follows and commented on each: <br /> 24 1. Shape the future by defining and reviewing regularly our goals and fiscal policies. <br /> 25 2. Develop a Plan or Options for the Stonehouse Property. <br /> 26 3. Provide 100-Year Flood Protection for all residents and businesses to protect health and <br /> 27 property. <br /> 28 4. Focus on redevelopment initiatives so that our image and tax base stays firm. <br /> 29 5. Protect and maintain our infrastructure so that our City works both now and in the future. <br /> 30 6. Provide a Park System that offers a mix of recreational opportunities for residents of all <br /> 31 ages. <br /> 32 7. Build a sense of community by involving our City's diverse groups in the ongoing <br /> 33 development of the City. <br /> 34 Mayor Cavanaugh indicated that a newsletter will be sent out to residents and will include these <br /> 35 seven City Goals. He expressed his willingness to receive feedback from the residents on these <br /> 0 seven City Goals. Mayor Cavanaugh asked the Council if they had any questions, or concerns <br /> 37 regarding the Strategic Profile. <br />
