City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> February 12, 2002 <br /> Page 7 <br /> • VIII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 2 Mike Mornson provided the Council with several updates from past meetings. He indicated that <br /> 3 under the Governor's proposed cuts on Local Government Aid (LGA),the City of St. Anthony <br /> 4 could expect a$150,219 cut in 2002 and a$55,254 cut in 2003. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Mornson referred to the summary of volunteer dinner responses and asked if the Council wished <br /> 7 to discuss it this evening. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Councilmember Horst stated that he would be in favor of holding the volunteer dinner. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Councilmember Thuesen stated that he was in favor of going forward with the volunteer dinner. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Councilmember Faust also said he was in favor of holding the volunteer dinner. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Mayor Hodson indicated that he would also like to proceed with the dinner. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Mornson stated that the dinner would be held on Friday, April 26, 2002. He added that he would <br /> 18 like to have Councilmember Sparks help City Clerk Connie Kroeplin in lining up keynote <br /> 19 speakers. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Mornson stated that they have received four applicants for the southwest task force,but added <br /> that they will not comprise a task force at this time. He stated that he would inform the four <br /> persons who responded by letter. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Mornson stated that Dr. Carr was no longer the City's Health Inspector. He stated that they <br /> 26 would be presenting him with a plaque for his forty years of volunteer services at the March 12, <br /> 27 2002 City Council meeting. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Mornson stated that he and Sue Henry met with the candle manufacturing company. The candle <br /> 30 manufacturer indicated that they would like to re-apply at the March 19, 2002 Planning <br /> 31 Commission meeting for an extension on their conditional use permit for the purpose of making <br /> 32 an improvement to the exhaust system to reduce,not eliminate, the odor. Mornson indicated that <br /> 33 Levitus felt that he could not invest the money in the facility until he has permanency to the <br /> 34 issue. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Mornson indicated that they are very close to settling on the Fire Department contract, and would <br /> 37 present the contract to the Council as soon as it was settled upon. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Mornson highlighted Mike Larson's performance as Liquor Operations Manager. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Mornson congratulated the City Council on their 5-0 decision on selecting a developer this <br /> 42 evening. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Councilmember Faust highlighted some of the recent accomplishments of the City Council <br /> is including the area of flood mitigation. He added that Mayor Hodson and himself had a very <br /> 40 successful meeting with Representative McGuire regarding the Three Rivers Regional Park, and <br /> 47 transportation funding. <br />
