LADDERS <br /> • A. Defective ladders shall not be used. <br /> B. All ladders shall be inspected periodically for warping, cracks, loose rungs, <br /> sharp projections and general condition. <br /> C. Only one person shall occupy a ladder at a time, except for fire fighters. <br /> Do not overload the ladder. <br /> D. Metal ladders shall not be used near electrical power lines. Choose the <br /> proper ladder for the job. <br /> E. Ladders shall be securely braced and mounted only on secure surfaces. <br /> F. Ladders shall be maintained in good condition by being stored on <br /> supporting racks, or in a specially designated area. <br /> G. Check ladder for the proper angle (75 degrees). <br /> H. Use the proper number of people to raise the ladder. <br /> I. Check the locks to be sure they are seated over the rungs. Wrap the <br /> • excess rope around two convenient rungs and pull it taunt and tie. <br /> J. Use proper ladder placement. Check for over head obstruction such as <br /> wires and tree limbs. If the ground is uneven, icy has soft spots or any <br /> condition such as strong winds that could cause the ladder to be unstable <br /> have someone heel the ladder (secure the ladder). <br /> • CITY OF ST.
