CHAIN SAW <br /> A. Before operations begin, the operator should check the condition of the <br /> chain, blade, and muffler and report defective parts immediately. <br /> B. The engine shall be turned off while refueling. <br /> C. The chain saw shall be held with both hands during use. <br /> D. The operator shall wear a tight fitting shirt and cuffless slacks to minimize <br /> the danger of becoming snagged by tree branches. <br /> E. Operators shall inspect wood to be sawed for foreign objects (nails, etc.). <br /> F. Cutting directly overhead is prohibited. <br /> G. Employees shall not operate a chain saw unless there is at least one other <br /> employee in the immediate area in which operations are to take place. <br /> HAND TOOLS <br /> A. Hand tools shall be kept in good condition. <br /> B. The right tool shall be used for the job. <br /> C. Hand tools shall be used correctly. <br /> D. Hand tools shall be kept in a safe place. <br /> FLOOR GRINDER <br /> A. Safety glasses, goggles or face shield will be used when operating grinder. <br /> B. Keep shields in place; near the equipment. <br /> C. Use clamping devices when grinding small pieces. <br /> D. Keep area clean of debris and excess grinding. <br /> E. Inspect wheels to make sure wheels are not cracked or broken. <br /> F. Inspect grinder wheels to make sure wheels are not farther apart from the <br /> guard than 1/8". <br /> CITY OF ST.
