Public Hearings
/The Chairman announced that this was the time and place to hold the continuat-
/ ion of the public hearing on the request of Johnson Wholesale Florists Inc.
to expand their business. Mr. Johnson presented plans to the board showing
the type and size of the proposed addition. After discussion with Mr. Johnson
the chairman asked Mr. Haik to explain to the neighbors in attendance what
the rights are of Mr. Johnson to expand. Mr. Haik referred to Ordinance No.
66A on page one which states, that the owners, their heirs, successors, and
assignees could expand their florist business to all portions of their lands.
It was also stated that any expansion would have to include a proposal to
landscape and maintain the area in good order. The matter of truck traffic was
discussed and Mr. Johnson agreed to see if he could eliminate some of the
trucks on Edwards Street. Mr. Liba, Mrs. Paquay, and Mr. Clark appeared and
voiced their disapproval to allow expansion of the Johnson property.
After further discussion, Mr. Liba asked if a representative of the Planning
Board could come to the Johnson Company and make an inspection of the operation
and also visit some of the houses across from the greenhouses and make a
report at the next meeting. Donald Kronk agreed to do this so he will make
this visit some time before the next Planning Board Meeting. At this point
Chairman Howitz declared the hearing closed.
Upon motion by Miedtke, seconded by Englund that the Johnson request be tabled
until Mr. Johnson comes in with a complete set of plans showing the exact
location of the building and also a landscape plan.
Motion Carried.
I
