Verkins, 2870 Highway 8,did not like to have industrial buildings
across the highway from his property.
Mr. Kenneth Lee stated that the Cemetery property should remain as it is
and not be rezoned.
Mr. Gordon Hedlund opposed the rezoning and felt the property should be
kept as cemetery land.
Mr. Beutel , President of Sunset Memorial Park, spoke in favor for rezoning
stating that they have enough land for there needs to last them over 25 years.
Chairman Howitz declared the hearing closed. Mr. Howitz discussed the meeting
held with Mr. Beutel in February 1967, at which time he appeared to hear what
the reaction of the board might be to a rezoning of this portion of the
cemetery. The Board members were of the opinion that this would tie in
with the industrial area on the north side of County Road C. Mr. Howitz
expressed a feeling that a Light Industrial complex would lend itself
to this area with the wide separation of Highway #8 as a buffer between this
area and the residential area.
