-3-
Dudynskl: "1 believe this proposal does not meet those requirements, it would
not fit well into the neighborhood".
• Ms. Shirley Soll of the St. Anthony League of Women Voters presented a statement
in favor of this proposal.
Mrs. Ruth Thompson stated her objection to the proposal and asked the dimensions
of the building.
Woodington: Outside dimensions are: 80' x 259'
Anthony Zahhos: "How would you zone the remaining lots? If you let one project
in, you open the area up to further development.
Bratland; We have looked at several plans throughout the years, the C.U.P.
ordinance gives the Village more control over the use of the land.
Dudynski: "Would the homes in the plan with four lots be single family
residence?
Woodington: Yes
Mr. Dudynski commented they would be rather shallow lots.
Mr. Gordon Hedlund stated: "The lots would be approximately 80' deep by 115'
fronta_ge, many homes in the Village are built on this size lots, very beautiful
homes such as the McReavy home which is a landmark in St. Anthony Village."
. Mrs. Chester Thompson: "I don't feel a 5 story building fits well in this area,
it would spoil it for good residential development. There are many ways it
could be developed residential, at least two of those homes referred to in that
one proposal should be built before they are allowed to build the 5 story
building.
Mrs. Roger Tobias asked if the Planning Board had been out to Edina to inspect
the facilities out there.
Bratland: Yes, we've seen that project, however this would not be identical to,
that project.
Dudynski: Stated that the St. Anthony Nursing Home which is on 37th Avenue and
this project and the proposed housing in the Salvation Army Camp would bring
to three the number of elderly housing projects in Village, is this necessary?
Bratland: We are here to deal with this request, the Salvation Army request will
be handled at the next public hearing.
Mrs. Sue Olson stated that the petition presented is not a true indication
of the feelings of all residents of that area. I live in that area, I was not
asked to sign and would not have signed if I were asked I do not oppose this
project. I am sure I could find the same number of people to sign a petition
in favor of this project as are on this petition opposing the Rembrandt
proposal.
• Mr. Kronk asked: "Are these apartments built specifically to house elderly?"
