Planning Commission Meeting Minutes
March 15, 2005
Page 8

Chair Stromgren stated that they plan to review and clean up the outdated portions of the City
Ordinances. He explained that one issue that has come before the Commission, on several
occasions, is proposals for an addition to a home and the residents are denied due to lot coverage
requirements. He asked if the review would be completed in time to have an impact for Mr.
Walek.

Ms. Moore-Sykes explained that what they are referencing would be a change in the ordinance.
She further explained that the process would involve three readings before final approval, which
is a time consuming process that could easily take up to two months or more to complete.

Chair Stromgren asked Ms. Moore-Sykes to provide the Commission with a memo, prior to the
next Planning Commission meeting, that itemizes all of the proposed ordinance changes. He
asked to include the review as an agenda item for the March Planning Commission meeting and
asked the Commissioners to review the proposed changes and contact Ms. Moore-Sykes with any
additional feedback.

Commissioner Jensen stated that he would like an interpretation of the variance from the City
Attorney. Ms. Moore-Sykes noted that it is her understanding that in the past the City has had
the authority to grant this type of variance and acknowledged his concerns noting a good point
raised is to whether the City would be able to defend the approval legally.

Commissioner Jenson welcomed Commissioner Heath Galyon to the Planning Commission.

Vice Chair Hanson stated that he would like an update on where the City is at with Sunset
Memorial Park. He asked if they are planning a public hearing for next month. Ms. Moore-
Sykes stated that it could be possible if Sunset Memorial is ready to move forward with their
plans.

XIII. ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Vice Chair Hanson, second by Commissioner Jensen, to adjourn the meeting at 7:55
p.m.

Motion carried unanimously.

Respectfully submitted,
Bonnie Sullivan
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.
