STAFF REPORT <br /> To: Planning Commission Report No.: VIII.1 <br /> From: Kim Moore-Sykes, Assistant City Manager <br /> Date: April 19,2005 <br /> Subject: Concept Review of the Proposed Text Amendment as Requested by Alderwoods Group, <br /> Sunset Memorial Park, 2250 St. Anthony Boulevard <br /> Requested Action: Concept Review <br /> None;information only. <br /> Background: <br /> Representatives from Sunset Memorial Park requested that they be placed on the April 19, 2005 Planning <br /> Commission meeting agenda for a Concept Review of a proposed text amendment that they have drafted to <br /> allow cemeteries in the R-1 Zoning District and allow funeral homes to operate in the R-1 Zoning District as <br /> a permitted conditional use. Currently,Sunset Memorial Park exists as a legal non-conforming use in the <br /> R-1 Zoning District. The impetus for this proposed amendment is Alderwoods' desire to reconstruct the <br /> Administration building. <br /> Below is the proposed schedule for the City's processes regarding the Sunset Memorial Park project: <br /> April 19— Concept Review <br /> May 17— Public Hearing with the Planning Commission re: text amendment <br /> May 24— Second Reading for the text amendment with the City Council <br /> June 14— Final Reading for the text amendment with the City Council <br /> June 21 — Public Hearing with the Planning Commission for: <br /> Site Plan Approval <br /> Conditional Use Permit <br /> Variances?
