Several weeks ago, I spoke with your architect, verbally outlined the process and the timing of variance request submittals. I took the opportunity of writing this letter to acknowledge receipt of the aforementioned payment and variance request application. By Minnesota statute, the City is required to take action on zoning and land use planning applications within 60 days of acceptance of the application. Since this petition requires that the City hold a public hearing, the Statutes also require that we publish a public notice of public hearing for two weeks prior to the date of the regularly scheduled meeting. The next meeting that will comply with the statutory requirements for this petition is August 16, 2005. This meeting will be 36 days from receipt of the fee and petition, which was July 12, 2005. On the Tuesday following the Planning Commission meeting, August 23`d, the City Council will consider the recommendation for action from the Planning Commission and the Council's action will produce a final disposition of your petition.
