Planning Commission Meeting Minutes <br /> September 20, 2005 <br /> Page 16 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 Chair Stromgren explained that notices are sent out to affected property owners for public <br /> 3 hearings not concept reviews and reviewed the process with Mr. Gavik. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Mr. Gavik asked what they would do for homeowners that live in the area. He stated that he and <br /> 6 his neighbors have lived in St. Anthony for over 29-years and asked the Commission how they <br /> 7 would feel if they had something like this going up next to them. He expressed concerns stating <br /> 8 that he does not understand why they want to squeeze so much onto such a small parcel of land. <br /> 9 He indicated that there has been some discussion about the possibilities of buying out the <br /> 10 properties in the area adding that he has not heard anything regarding the results of that <br /> 11 discussion. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Chair Stromgren stated that the Commission would update City Staff about the possibilities and <br /> 14 their interest in possibility selling their properties adding that the City would not have anything to <br /> 15 do with the decision for a property buyout. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Mr. Gavik asked why the developers have not tried to work with the residents in purchasing their <br /> 18 lots. He indicated that one of the residents,who lives in the middle of the properties, did not <br /> 19 want to sell so the developers did not pursue it any further and asked why. He stated that it <br /> 20 appears that there is no concern about the other residents adding that he would like to know what <br /> 21 the setbacks are for the development. He asked the Commission to make sure that they adhere to <br /> 22 all of the requirements. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 X. INFORMATION AND DISCUSSION. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Captain John A Ohl—Named as St Anthony Police Chief <br /> 27 <br /> 28 10.1 Ms. Moore-Sykes announced that John Ohl has accepted the position of the Chief of <br /> 29 Police for the City of St. Anthony and reviewed with the Commission. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 XI. ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Commissioner Jenson asked if there have been any more leases granted in the commercial <br /> 34 sections of the City. He asked if there would be an open house for Silver Lake Village. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Ms. Moore-Sykes stated that an Open House for Silver Lake Village is scheduled for October 19, <br /> 37 2005. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Ms. Moore-Sykes stated that the Chamber of Commerce is working with the management team <br /> 40 on the Oktoberfest noting that it is currently scheduled for October 15, 2005 from 3:00 P.M. to <br /> 41 9:00 P.M. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Commissioner Hoska asked for an update on tenants for the Hitching Post. <br /> 44 <br />
